Responsible Packaging

we believe there is no more responsible alternative to doing business other than through the pursuit of environmental sustainability and this belief guides every decision we make. we find inspiration for doing so in Nature and believe that Nature is not merely something to be cherished and protected, but also should be emulated as a model of sustainability. we also believe that profit and environmental responsibility will increasingly work together as more industries find out that “nature works” for both sustainability and the bottom-line

Our Mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world. At Aveda, we believe that environmental sustainability must be an important component of all responsible business decisions. We also believe that industries will increasingly discover that environmentally sustainable actions can improve the bottom line. We see protecting biodiversity as an important part of sustainability.

Animals and Aveda

Aveda is a cruelty-free brand. We do not test on animals and never ask others to do so on our behalf. Our products are “people-tested.” Being a cruelty-free brand is an important part of our mission to care for the world we live in and for those we live with, and has been since our founding in 1978. We strive to set an example for leadership and responsibility of caring, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world. Our commitment to caring for animals and wildlife reaches far and wide. In fact, we live and breathe it.

A Q&A With Lauralye

Lauralye - Master Hair Stylist at 2545 Salon and Spa in Sechelt, BC

I moved from Vancouver to the coast and worked at one of the local salons in Sechelt. It didn’t take long for me to decide to open my own, more modern salon. I started 2545 in 1996, (850 sq ft) and introduced the coast to progressive haircuts, colouring and foils!
In 2006, 2545 expanded to a 3300 sq ft warehouse style building in Sechelt. I oversaw and participated in the renovation and design in the evenings and on Sunday’s while working at the other salon for 2 1/2 months, moved all the furnishings in and opened 4 days later.
Over the years the salon has added more stylists stations, spa rooms and 6 tanning beds. I’ve become an excellent painter and still very bad at dry walling.

Having been apart of Axis salon when they became Aveda Concept, I always looked for products that were safer for my clients and the environment. I can remember someone asking me “Do people really care about all that?”
Coming full circle studio 2545 eventually became an Aveda Salon and exclusively uses Aveda haircare, colour, skincare and makeup.

Education provides a key roll for inspiring myself and our stylists. We regularly have Aveda educators come to our salon as well as attending hair shows and seminars in Vancouver and the U.S.
We are always connected to the Internet for the latest trends and techniques and participate in live webinars.

I was trained and apprenticed in Vancouver with Axis Salon, learning the techniques of Vidal Sasson, Trevor Sorbie and Vivian Mikinder. I also had the highlight of my career when I was chosen to train with Vidal’s protege Angelo Seminara.
All of our stylists are certified colour technicians, have trained and apprenticed and still update their skills regularly. We share our experiences to better each other and our artistry.

This summer we had our first guest artist from Aveda Whistler/Vancouver. We look forward to welcoming other guests from around the world to join our team for inspiration and sharing knowledge.

I am excited to go to work everyday and visit with my clients, I love doing hair! All of the 2545 staff have the same emotion about their job. We love what we do. We are a team that helps and drives each other to follow our passion.
